Our Stroke Research team’s efforts are highlighted in the latest BLOC-ICH study newsletter. Our team puts Aberdeen Royal Infirmary among the top recruiting centres. Well done to the stroke doctors and research nurses Vicky and Janice!

The BLOC-ICH* study looks at a new way to treat patients who suffered an intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH). This is a type of stroke caused by spontaneous bleeding in to the brain. Previous research has found that this is often followed by a swelling (inflammation) of the brain around the bleeding. The swelling can damage the brain and lead to long term consequences or even life-long disability. The new treatment is aiming at reducing the swelling. For more information you can visit the trial website.
