Many of our Research and Development (R&D) team have been helping out at the front lines since the start of the Covid-19 outbreak. Staff have been redeployed to various areas.

Some of our R&D staff are managing the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Stores at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, to make sure healthcare staff are given the PPE they need to work safely. The stores are open 7 days a week, so ward staff have daily access to the PPE they need.

We spoke to Mariella, who is part of our research awareness team, and is currently managing the PPE store team. She told us about their experience so far:

“This is a challenging job, but everyone is happy to help where it is most needed. We have had some lovely feedback from the wards too. It’s nice to know that, in these hard times, we are all supporting each other and our work is making a difference.”

We want to say a big thank you to all of our redeployed R&D staff. We know that they have had to step out of their comfort zone, but they are embracing these changes and supporting others.

We also want to say an equally big thank you to the R&D staff who are still working in research, supporting important Covid-19 trials and taking on additional duties to cover for redeployed staff.

We are very proud of you and all the work you are doing.

Thank you and well done everyone!
