This is a UK wide study that is part of the Cancer Research UK Stratified Medicine Programme. CRUK have made video about the programme which you can access through their website Personalised medicine | Cancer information | Cancer Research UK
The study is looking to find similarities and differences in the genes of lung cancer cells. The difficulty is that people with the same type of cancer can have subtle differences in their cancer cells and one treatment doesn’t fit all. The researchers are working toward a personalised approach in cancer treatment. To do this they must first gather data from many tumours, look to see how these tumours have been treated and how they then responded to the treatments.
Researchers will also use the information from this study to find out whether patients would be eligible for a large clinical trial called the National Lung Matrix.

Recruitment for this study is now closed. The research team in Aberdeen have recruited 68 participants since being activated as a recruitment site in April 2019.
