Have you heard the term CRF before? Wonder what it means and why it’s important?

A CRF is a Clinical Research Facility.

Clinical research facilities are where clinical research takes place. Clinical research is another name for medical research or research into health and social care. There are many CRFs across the UK, including Aberdeen. They offer researchers spaces to visit participants, support from research nurses and equipment to carry out tests.

CRFs are flexible, so they can be adapted to a range of different studies– a study into a heart condition would require different support compared to, for example, a study into lung cancer.

If you would like to learn more about CRFs, please take a look at this booklet produced by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR): CRF Booklet
